VOLUNTEER With Us

Volunteers play a vital role at Huneebee, often working alongside our youth employees, bringing new gifts and talents to our community of care, and extending the capacity of our small but mighty team.

GARDENING & Beekeeping

Gardening and beekeeping volunteers help to fulfill our vision of a world in which youth, the community, and our environment are in mutual and collaborative relationship. At this time, we are in need of support in the following areas:

  • Help us maintain our more than 9 urban garden sites with a weekly watering or weeding shift. Watering shifts are typically in the early morning; weeding is forever!

  • Help our team harvest flowers for our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and farmers market sales! Harvesting shifts are 3-4 hours and can be scheduled Thursday afternoons, Fridays, or Saturday mornings.

  • Support our beekeeping team during the busy spring and summer months with care and maintenance of our urban apiaries, including swarm management, supering, checking hive health, honey harvesting, queen rearing, mite testing and treating, cleaning and storing equipment, and more.

MARKETPLACE

Community markets and our online shop are the engine that drive our impact goals for youth and pollinators and volunteers are the fuel!

  • We’re proud to be a vendor at CitySeed Edgewood Park Farmers Market. Market volunteers help our team with set up/tear down, processing transactions, and promoting Huneebee! Volunteer shifts are on Sundays from 9:30-1:30.

Youth PROGRAMMING

  • Our professional development workshops makes job skills training accessible, engaging, and relevant for our Beekeepers in Residence trainees, graduates, and youth employees. If you have a professional skill or interest that you want to share more on, we’re now accepting applicants for guest speakers.
